Bilge Pump Pulley Adjustment

Post by bobskinner » Fri Mar 27, 2009 12:09 pm

Hi Guys,

Anyone know the answer to this one? If the adjustable pulley is put on the pump shaft as shown in th manual with the rotating flange outwards, the slot in the fixed part of the pulley is 180 degrees away fron the the larger slot in the pump shaft. You would assume that the two should be in line so that the allen lock screw would pass through the slot in the pulley and enter the slot in the shaft to lock the pulley after adjustment. The fixed half of the pulley is already keyed to the pump shaft so what is the purpose of the second slot/keyway?

Regards

Bob

Thanks for the photo David. You can see what I mean, what is the purpose of the slot/keyway in the pump shaft, on the right in the photo? You would imagine it should line up with the slot in the pulley hub but it is 180 degrees out. I am sure the answer is obvious but I can't see it.

Regards
