Rudder cable

Post by Steve Barber » Tue Jul 15, 2008 7:03 pm

While ordering parts for my Cessna 172, I thought about purchasing a replacement rudder cable for my GPA project. Aircraft Spruce Inc. has a 3/16, 7x17 strand, stainless steel control cable (obviously aircraft grade). It is a very strong and flexible cable that should work well on a GPA. I purchased 50' for my GPA project while I was ordering airplane parts. In addition to being flexible, the stainless steel is less prone to corrosion. Additionally, each strand is lubricated which will reduce wear. It is much more expensive than hardware store cable (88 cents per foot), but considering the cost of a GPA restoration, I personally think it is worth the difference. See this link for more info: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/a ... lcable.php

Additionally, Aircraft Spruce is a great place to find high quality hard to find items for many weird restoration projects (like GPAs).
