Was the Marine operations plate ever issued in red?

David,
I think the red dash plate is not original Ford. Early Ford GPA: steel, late: brass.
Maybe the red one is even not WW2. I hope someone else can answer this question.
WW2 vehicles in postwar duty (Marines!?) got maybe sometimes new plates.
Some jeeps for sure in Norwegian duty, according my early GPW with aluminium plates.
Very interesting to know. Just the fire plates on the dash, under the rear seat and the hood are red as far as I know and have seen.
One time a yellow one on the dash of John Vetter's GPA in New York years ago (1981)see print.
Robert the Ruijter (see member list) makes the GPA dash plates like the originals.
For your GPA the late ones according your frame but now with your early GPA engine...?
Kind regards, Jan
