Fuel Filler Neck

Good Afternoon Gentlemen,
Here are a couple of pictures of the fuel filler neck from my `Good GPA'.
Does it look correct to you? It looks a bit bright and shiney to me to be original. I need one for my project GPA so if it is right I will have it copied. That is unless someone has a shed full of them for 2 euros each.

It looks exactly like the one for my GPA. I would post a picture of it but I had to send it out to have it restored as the funnel portion was badly corroded. I think the early models had a straight tube small mouth shape and the late models had the funnel shape big mouth shape. Hopefully somebody will chime in and indicate whether this is true or not.

Yes looks correct. Donovan, I saw you're new Filler neck out at Dennis' it looks great. BTW it was funny I compared a couple I had to yours and they all had slight differences around the height of the flat part around just below the Cap... guess there was a little deviation on all of them. To answer the question yes the very early ones did have the straight neck without the funnel... but I think this is very early....

Yes , in my opinion the correct model.
As far as I know, seen on original pictures the first 200
GPA's had only the small filler neck!
GPA ; USA 702328 + / - GPA 224 had allready the large model
and also the higher model taillight brackets.

Hi Guys,
Just back from India. I left my filler neck with a guy to get some copies made, he does not think it will be that easy and I have insisted on exact replicas. I will be back in February to see what progress has been made.

The restorer I'm working with, Bob Fulcher, of American Classic Restorations, has finished a prototype. He and I were able to find a supply of NOS filler tank tops (the part the cap attaches to) from MB/GPW tanks. This is the most difficult part to reproduce in the absence of dies. I'm driving up to Uxbridge MA to meet with him and should have photos to circulate next week. He promised me to do 12 - 15 units if they meet with approval. Richard Sanders did a really good design drawing for us, so the finished part should be excellent, if not inexpensive. (I don't have pricing from Bob yet, but it took one of his guys several days to put together a prototype that he was happy with. I gave Bob comments on the prototype in progress, and will be examining the finished prototype today.
