Hello to you all!
I'm happy that there is some movement again in the restauration of GPA 4928.
On a very cold sunday morning I made myself a promise that I would install the transmission and transfer-case.
I lifted the heavy iron piece and hurt my back so seriously that I wasn't able to do anything for more than two weeks! :oops:
Finaly when I was cured from this I got the flu and was again not able to do anything!
Now the GPA is getting its final shape back and it is nice to see pictures
of the inside when I started and pictures from the situation now.

Mr Peter G504 beter known as "The FOEF" , made me very happy with
a perfect replica of the shroud on my new GPA radiator.

I now have to fill the axels and transmission/transfer-case with oil
and the brake system with silecone brake liquid and ajust it.
Then the puzzle of the wiring with the necessary extras.
The engine and interieur fenders are installed.
Fuel line and battery cables are in place.

So I think I need several weeks work and than I bring her to the water to see if there are leaks :o

Is it an electrical bilge pump on your pictures? If so, where does it take the water it pumps?

Electric bilge pump

Hello Jerome

Yes it is an extra electric bilge pump.
You know our toys are very expensive so I don't want to take any risk.
If your engine fails when you're on the water and you have a leak
you're deep in trouble!! :shock:
So I installed an extra pump with clamps on the chassis(no drilling).
And in case of trouble I connect an second hose to the one you see in the picture and pump the water over board.
I've got the electric connectors from the radio outletbox.
You don't see it and the only thing you see is the tube connector when you open the floor inspection plate between the front seats.
It pumps water just beside the original tube about 1 cm from the floor.
I payed about 25 euro for it .

Dear Bob,

Great idea, I am planning to do the same. I took my GPA into the Seine river (Paris) last week and my bilge pump did not work. I used a hand operated pump to take the result of a minor leak out. I wish I would have had an electrical pump like yours.
