Sounds great. I do appreciate it. Now where is the material available? My remnants are similar to corrugated cardboard with an outer heavier black cardboad outer layer. Any sources for the stuff? I imagine its the same as the MB/GPW firewall pad material?

Thanks,
Tony

Hi guys,
Leo has them repro I have them original placed on my GPA they are made off as we call it in the netherlands Masonite wich has been primered in some kind off oil to make it waterproof [ indead the same material as the Jeep] and color is Black or flat black
And if I recall behind it is cardboard the same as used for strong boxes and between it is isolation some kind off glaswoll.
If Leo takes the pictures ok you can see the different kind off materials used on the firewall.
It is kept in place with special screws almost a flathead and u formed plates as a nut .
I can take a picture off it as you don't know what I am talking about :?:

FireWall Material

Post by uglyduckling5643 » Thu Jan 05, 2006 6:50 pm

I made a replacment firewall mat a few years ago. I found the boxes that JOHN DEERE tractor parts are shipped in uses the very same corrugated card. then I spray painted it with very thin synthetic chassis black. (Thinned down, to soak in well) takes almost forever to dry, but finished just like the original. good luck, Mark.

Hello all you asked about this subject:

Today I made the photos, 3 of the pads and one from the top so you can see the build up of the material. These pads came with my GPA, I bought her all taken apart in pieces, and I'm not shure if this is NOS or later reproduction material.

Peter, I hope you like the size of these photos :?:

Thanks Leo,

i think Jaap once said to me that your firewall came from Claude Thille in Luxembourg. I tried to contact him but it didn't work. So it might be a reproduction ....

But it it looks very good, so i won't worry about it !

Looking forward for the dimensions ....

Thanks,
Glenn
