Re: GPA 2196 Swims

Perfect job, Tony " Keep them floating"! I forgot several times the 2 small rear plugs.Since I use 2 radiator draincocks (painted red)instead of plugs it goes better a lot. The profit is also that the plug treadhole stays in good condition. By the way, your driven bilge pump is "easy&...

Re: GPA 2196

Hi Tony, Sometimes "doing" people - like us - are always very busy with a lot of projects. Hobby, house, garden, beachhouse, children, grandchildren, old mother and trying to sell her house because she is in now in a pension with medical help, a.s.o, a.s.o. Just normal life. Please don,t w...

Re: Engine Work Bench (manipulator)

David, Thanks. In time I will try to make a drawing for interested members of the list. The right gravity point posision is important. It's in front nearly in-line of the 3 horizontal tread holes under the waterpump. About 3/4 inch (19 mm)left of the middle tread hole (front view!). To get the right...

Re: Red marine operations plate

David, I think the red dash plate is not original Ford. Early Ford GPA: steel, late: brass. Maybe the red one is even not WW2. I hope someone else can answer this question. WW2 vehicles in postwar duty (Marines!?) got maybe sometimes new plates. Some jeeps for sure in Norwegian duty, according my ea...

Re: Found a GPA motor for my new GPA!

Very good deal with the GPA engine!
Even the original F-bolts are there on top of the cylinderhead.
Maybe the prints of my engine work bench can help you a little bit to solve the cleaning and rebuilding job.

Re: Questions on Restoration

Cees, This is true and is not an issue for me. In normal traffic you need 100% good brakes. When you use a trailer for it and use your amphib just for fun in the water it can be another story. I think there are a lot of parts with the same problems. A lot of people use old tires too. Even old NOS he...

Re: Questions on Restoration

Hi Donovan, 1a - See Peters answer. 1b - If you mean the \ and /-like small reinforgements against the seam- and on top gas welded sheetmetal hull plates, yes, it belongs there. 2 - You mean the small welded (flag-like) welded brackets to fasten the vent-tunnels inside? If yes, put the plates/tunnel...

Re: GPAs on Rouge River

Bob, All GPA,s are "late", no black windscreen rubber under, muffler guard and rail is there, also a boathook bracket. The GPA was standardized in February, 1943 that means that all modifications (FS MWO,s) where standard for production from that moment on. The date of the photo March 12, ...
