Hi Eric
Very interesting picture !, thanks for sharing !
In my opinion this is a five seater, nbr 3 production.
I think this is the engineering prototype ( or one of the engineering prototypes) that Ford used for modifications.
You can see the lifting rings on the deck allready installed and this appeared
arround nbr GPA 1300 on the production models.
On earlier pictures you don't see the black out driving lamp on the prototypes
and here you can see the early model of this black out lamp.
I wonder what the purpose of that bracket is that is just behind the lifting eye ??
No surfshield, but brackets are there.
No headlamps or brackets and I see no raized bulbs on the deck where those brackets were fastened ?
Allready the standard model winch and no rubber weather strip in air intake hatch!
This must have been in a later stage because you see a Jeep in the background with later modifications;
A jerrycan canvas strip guide bracket and reflectors at the rear allready in a low position!
Interesting discussion picture ! rolley

Hello my dear Bob,

Didn't the nbr 3 production already have the head lamps on the front desk ?
I agree with all your comments, I already never saw this kind of early model black out bracket on a GPA before.

I suppose that the date is Sept 2 1942.

Kind regards,

Eric & others
Here a picture of the same GPA!
A five seater without headlamps!
I am convinced that this is the factory engineering GPA.
The history says nbr 1 and 2 were two seaters and nbr 3 was a 5 seater.
I am wondering if there were more prototype 5 seaters for factory engineering tests rolley
