History off GPA #6849

In april 1986 I was informed by Jan Roelse for an auction down under for a Ford GPA. Original, I was only interested in VW Schwimmwagens, but it looked nice on the pictures Jan arranged for me. Jan’s friend had no interest in it so he past it on to me.
The auction was on March 8th in Melbourne, it was very short time to pay a visit. So I made the gamble and put a bit on it by phone. Never expected to get it for that price, but a day after the auction Roger Ross phoned me that I had to collect the GPA and transfer the money to him. At that moment I had to explane a lot to my wife for the purchase of some EDEL SCHROTT (the favorite words from Bjorn Fossholm) I arranged the transport with a roll-on roll-off ship from Melbourne to Rotterdam and it arrived on May 11th 1986.
It was, and still is, in running and swimming condition and I used it till now with a lot off pleasure for allmost 26 years.
It joined every Amphib meeting in the past years.
