Why CJ Knuckle seals for GPA

Post by Donovan » Mon Jun 11, 2012 12:48 am

Everyone,

I have run into several posts that recommend CJ knuckle seals for the GPA that are better at keeping the water out. Why is that? Anyone have pictures that can explain the difference?

I am trying to decide if I should do this and what it will take to do this conversion. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Donovan.

Hi Michael
Yes, I 'm enthusiastic abouth those seals.
The originals are most of the time not fit anymore and / or dried out.
You have to remove the old aluminum half moon parts and remove the remaining
dirt and grease.
Then put the black rubber seal arround the axle bol.
(when installing at the complete axle) make one cut into the felt ring and hold
this in position with some grease to the bolt holes.
Then install the new half moon iron parts.
The new iron half moon parts are thiner than the original ones.
At my GPA no drop comes into the axles.
