Dear friends,
Just returned from a well organised Amphib 2015.
A great location, just a few kilometers from the centre of Amsterdam and such a great place.
Like camping on the beach, a complete area only for us Amphib participants of Amphib 2015.
The organisers had the unpleasant job to disapoint a lot of interested people because the totall of
vehicles wat limited to 65.
In fact this became 74, and if there was no limit, it would have been +/- 150!
The young new organisator crew made it a great program and well organise event.
We started with a lot of info, souveniers, and wonderfull info guide / book with all details you like to know.
For all the days there were precise detailed routes for on land and on the water.
Electricity, showers, toilets, bread, festival tent and enough beers!
Except one half day the weather couldn't have been beter.
But; 'After rain comes......
The variation of cars was big:
One amphi-bus, 25 amphicars, 3 Amphi- ranger, 2 Dukw / BAF, 1 Citroën CX Kamfibie, 11 Dukw, 3 Dutton, 6 GAZ, 1 jet ranger, 3 Schwimmwagen, 2 Stalward,
and 17 Ford GPA.
One day during a trip we nearly lost a GPA, but the captain was so clever to put the nose to the shore and keep the engine full running with pump full.
Two dukw's helped him on each site to keep it floting.
The was an extra fuel bilge pump om board on one of the Dukw's, and with this on board and with his own bilge, the captain managed to get his GPA
to the ramp.
There was a trip during daytime through the canals of Amsterdam.
On another day we all had to do a search tour on the water and fill in the answers to 10 hidden questions on the water tour.
An other day we visited the cheesemarket of Alkmaar and next day the famous Dutch water mills at "Zaanse schans".
But the most impressive tour was the night trip through the canals of Amsterdam and the "red light district" with all the bars, hookers and coffee shops
We finished our event with the traditional group-picture and the farewell dinner.
Group activeties like a "monkey Race
Now I revive from this week of excitement, sun, talking and beer, and looking forward to the next international Amphib, which should be held in Sweden.
On the sign is mentioned "30".
Anyhow, it will be great to swim in Sweden
