PTO bolts

Hi Everyone, I need a favor, I need to know the length of the bolts that hold on the PTO to back of transfer case. I also need to know the length of the thread. The parts book says 3 inches for length but that seems long. The ones that I have are attached to my GPA and wired in so hard to check with...

Re: GPA for sale

I do not think Tony ever sold his GPA. I know he was considering selling it but do not know if it ever happened. I have seen several GPAs trying to be sold for $150,000+ but I have never seen whether they actually sold! My opinion is that there are people who have wishful thinking about selling thei...

Re: GPA for sale

By my estimate, that is 215,000 US which puts it way over the price of any GPA ever sold. If it sells for that amount, I might have to rethink my insurance coverage. I have more original parts and mine is all matching numbers which I could not tell if this GPA was or not. This is just plain in my op...

Re: wanted! GPA dynamo anchor

Bob, I take it that you mean the generator mount. It would not be difficult to make but will have to get someone to measure theirs that has not been mounted. Mine is mounted and would be impossible to accurately measure. Another source might be the Benson Ford Museum and try and get a copy of the dr...

Shudder in Rear of vehicle

Everyone, I have done searches at G503 for the cause of a shudder in the rear end. I experienced a shudder this morning and would continue for a second after about 100 feet of driving and then repeat. Based on my searches it could be anything from engine/transmission mounts to drive line, clutch shu...

Markings on a GPA

Everyone, I am in the final stages of restoring my GPA (still does not stop me from taking it out) and wanted to try and finalize the markings. I have put 1 large star on each side and a small star on the rear. Also a large star on the engine hood. I have seen period photos that seem to suggest smal...

Why CJ Knuckle seals for GPA

Everyone, I have run into several posts that recommend CJ knuckle seals for the GPA that are better at keeping the water out. Why is that? Anyone have pictures that can explain the difference? I am trying to decide if I should do this and what it will take to do this conversion. Any assistance would...

Maybe I am just stupid here, but why would anybody want a cracked engine block?

Re: Restoration of GPA 3762

Bob,

Great job. It seems as if a great accomplishment has been achieved when a GPA has been restored and you have done a very nice job. Congratulations. Enjoy!

Re: some more progress on GPA#8787

Leo,

It is looking very good. I am curious, how difficult was it to get the engine mount bolts in the front? That must have been a challenge! Good luck and I hope to see pictures of her maiden voyage soon!

Need Jerry Can Support Bracket

Everyone, I am nearly finished but the one item I am missing is the Jerry Can (Gas can) support bracket that supports the top of the Jerry can. Does anyone have a spare or would they loan me it so I could have a reproduction made? It may have too many curves (as I recall from photos) to be able to m...

Re: Restoration of GPA 3762

Bob,

A very nice job. Hope you enjoy for many years.

I noticed the small switch bracket to the left of the dash. That is not standard on a GPA though it looks great. What is it used for?

Richard,

The hull looks fantastic. You really did a great job with it. I hope you get to swim soon. I am sorry I could not make it to Dayton. Maybe the next MVPA or heaven forbid I come to Australia!

Good luck and keep the pictures coming!

Re: Distributor frozen in GPA engine block

Russ, Congratulations! The penetrants you used do work if given time. For some less patient people, they attempt to use too much force and something breaks! I would thoughly inspect everything and make sure you do not have a water leak in the distributor tube area which I believe is not that uncommo...
