Re: Some new picture discoveries of Dutch Army GPA's

Interesting numbers, Bob, I know Lend-Lease records had 6 GPA's for the Netherlands. Not surprisingly, the Israel Navy had some GPA's as well, yet not under Lend-Lease, but rather postwar. Each source would have been either American or British vehicles. I would like to see an extract from the book y...

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Dear All A Christmas wish for you all through this festive season. I trust it has been a great year for you. My thanks especially to the folks I met and stayed with earlier in the year whilst in GB and Europe. 2009 will bring GPA paperwork that I must catch up with. All the very best Ian PS......Kee...

GPA Numbers

Gentlemen I had Bob Skinner from the UK enquiring about his GPA 5386 (dod 5th January 1943) and what its WD Registration Number may have been. Maybe these records will turn up in London. I was able to pass on some information that may be of interest to all. The following is an extract; My records to...

Donovan Hi there. I have just dug out a pile of photocopies about 4 inches high of copies of drawings from Dearborn. There are copies of a lot of drawings. Every drawing has a negative, in an envelope 4 1/2" x 3", marked with Part No. and Latest date or change. They are rubber stamped &quo...

Gentlemen I thought I would pick up on a comment made by Donovan earlier. Full size drawings (15 feet long) of the GPA are available at the Benson Ford Museum/Archive at Dearborn, Michigan. The drawings are available as negatives and consist of about 6 negatives for the full size drawing. There are,...

Bob Hi there from Australia. Happy New Year. You have been an inspiration to GPA men around the world with your enthusiasm and dedication. 2008 will be a good year. I am intrigued with the details you have of your GPA back in the 40’s, particularly source dates, shipping information, etc. I have off...

Richard Hi there. Happy New Year. Say hello to the family. Great to see 9398 coming back together. Making a start is the first big hurdle, but it is great when you see things happening. Interestingly, you are not sand blasting the hull prior to adding new steel. It looks good. It has been raining fa...

John Hi there. Great to catch up. I recall ratting bits and pieces off that GPA in the late 70's, early 80's. It was just as weary then. I also remember seeing the biggest brown (?) snake of my life nearby. I was happy to get the bits and pieces i needed and get away. I figured where there was one, ...

Gentlemen Thought I would mention a little more of engines. In Australia, 81 GPA engines (apart from the 161 Australian Army GPA's) found their way into 80 reconditioned GPW and MB jeeps. Where did these engines come from? It had to be from dismantled GPA's, and probably from the USA. Interestingly ...

Gentlemen Following is an interesting piece of history and sad for enthusiasts today. In January, 1944, an inspection of vehicles at the Utah Army Service Forces Depot near Salt Lake City revealed the poor state of internal components of engines of vehicles held in storage. Another inspection was un...
